This assignment essay number 5 means a lot to me because it marks the end of a beautiful journey that I started months ago. As a freshman, my early days at this class was confusing and sometimes hard for me because I was not familiar with the work and the environment yet. From the beginning to now, I grew a lot in knowledge and my interest in African-American culture grew up as well. Reading the book, The Underground Railroad was a fun task because I find the story behind the book so attractive and meaningful and interesting. For this sake, writing about this essay was not hard, even if the pages were long, I did not notice the length when my imagination took place after I started writing the essay. The only difficult part remains to find the perfect source from the CUNY database that connects to my themes which were autonomy, brutality, and ownership. I had to do a lot of research and to read a lot looking at the perfect source that fits the best for each theme.

When it comes to the audience I choose to address to my essay, I choose both people of color and white people to address my essay. I think this essay and topic talks to everyone who know about slavery and the Underground Railroad. The tone of my essay is formal because I am addressing a group of people and want my essay to be as respectful as possible. Last but not least, the organization, was a little complicated to well organized my essay. Based on my themes, my goal was to elaborate on each one of them separately and to move on to the next theme while keeping a connection between them.

This essay was definitely the most powerful and difficult to have done so far. The content was meaningful to me which helped me a lot through the writing process. Also, peer reviews also have been great because it made me correct some of the imperfections of my draft. As the last essay, I feel relieved and proud that the semester ended with an assignment like this one. I definitely enjoyed writing and learning from this essay.
